Sutter Health Plan Welcomes ASH as New Acupuncture and Chiropractic Plan Partner

Oct 22, 2026 | 2026, Network, News

Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, as employer groups renew their coverage, Sutter Health Plan will partner with American Specialty Health Plans of California, Inc. (ASH)* to administer supplemental acupuncture and chiropractic benefits for members currently offered these services through ACN Group of California, Inc. (ACN), dba OptumHealth Physical Health of California. ASH is a nationally recognized specialty health organization with a broad network of licensed acupuncture and chiropractic providers.

This transition from ACN to ASH is designed to ensure that members still have access to high-quality acupuncture and chiropractic care through ASH’s extensive provider network.

Members with covered supplemental benefits will be able to access participating providers directly, without a referral. ASH also offers tools and resources to help members find care that best meets their needs.

For employer groups, this partnership reflects Sutter Health Plan’s commitment to offering comprehensive, value-driven benefits that support whole-person health. During the transition, Sutter Health Plan will work with both ACN and ASH throughout 2027, with employer groups moving to ASH as they renew. The final employer group transition is expected with the Dec. 1, 2027 renewal cycle.

What Members Need to Know

Sutter Health Plan and ASH are working together to ensure a smooth transition for members whose plans include supplemental acupuncture and chiropractic benefits. Members can use the ASH provider directory at ashlink.com/ash/SutterHealthPlan or call ASH at 800-678-9133 to confirm whether their current provider participates in the ASH network and to identify alternative participating providers, if needed.

Members should review their Sutter Health Plan member ID card to determine whether their supplemental acupuncture and chiropractic benefits are administered by ACN or ASH. Once they have confirmed their benefits partner, they should use the appropriate provider directory to locate participating providers.
