Nine Sutter hospital campuses in the Sutter Health Plan network earned the 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades, an online resource that provides consumers with information about physicians and hospitals.

Announced during National Patient Safety Awareness Week, this distinction places these hospitals among the top 5% to 10% nationwide for patient safety, reflecting a consistent focus on delivering safe, high-quality care.

The Sutter network hospital campuses awarded Healthgrades’ 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Awards are:

  • Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (Berkeley and Oakland)
  • California Pacific Medical Center (San Francisco)
  • Mills-Peninsula Medical Center (Burlingame)
  • Novato Community Hospital*
  • Sutter Davis Hospital
  • Sutter Roseville Medical Center
  • Sutter Solano Medical Center
  • Sutter Tracy Community Hospital

“Congratulations to our network hospitals on earning these top ratings,” said Dr. Robert Bixler, Medical Director at Sutter Health Plan. “These results reflect the ongoing dedication of care teams to delivering safe, compassionate, high‑quality care. That’s why it is so important to choose a plan with a high-performing provider network.”

To determine national leaders in patient safety, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates from approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide across 13 patient safety indicators, each representing a serious, potentially preventable complication.
